2019 was a busy year for Coalition to Cure Calpain 3! During the past year we:

• Funded two new research projects: Funding was awarded to Dr. Jaakko Sarparanta, Folkhälsan Research Center and the University of Helsinki, and Dr. Nicholas Johnson, Virginia Commonwealth University. Since C3 was founded, we have funded thirteen research grants for LGMD2A/R1 research!

• Awarded first C3 Travel Grant to Dr. Stefanie Müthel, Charité Medical Faculty and the Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine

• Celebrated the fifth annual Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Day on September 30, 2019

• C3 was represented at ten international conferences

• Hosted the first ever LGMD2A/R1 Gene Therapy Workshop

• Utilized the Global LGMD2A/R1 Registry to contact patients about three clinical research opportunities

• Participated in the first National LGMD Conference, where we met over fifty members of the LGMD2A/R1 community

As 2019 comes to a close, everyone at COALITION TO CURE CALPAIN 3 would like to extend a warm heartfelt “thank you” to the researchers working to cure LGMD2A/R1, the clinicians and physical therapists who treat us, our Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board for their tireless efforts to support our efforts, our generous donors for their contributions which allow us to fund research, and those who are living with this muscle-wasting disease for placing their trust in C3 to find a treatment or cure.

No matter what your resolutions are, we hope that together we can “Overcome Weakness with Strength” in 2020!
