The Speak Foundation, in partnership with the LGMD Awareness Foundation and the CureLGMD2i Foundation, has announced the launch of five LGMD Centers of Excellence, a US-based network of academic medical centers designed to coordinate multidisciplinary care and to improve clinical infrastructure to support therapeutic development. Each center has a Care Coordinator to coordinate appointments with specialists for individuals living with LGMD.
There are five initial LGMD Centers of Excellence:
- Virginia Commonwealth University & VCU Health
- University of Iowa Health Care
- University of Minnesota Medical School
- University of Texas at San Antonio
- University of Florida
