Coalition to Cure Calpain 3 (C3) is pleased to share that a new Calpain 3-null mouse strain is available through the Jackson Labs repository. This line is crossed onto an NSG background, resulting in an immunodeficient strain. The NSG.Capn3 KO mice may be useful for studying human cell transplantation/engraftment for LGMD2A/R1 (Calpainopathy).

A detailed description of the mice, strain #038279, can be found on the Jackson Labs website. C3 is grateful to Vita Therapeutics for donating the strain so that it is available for the research community to access.

Interested investigators are encouraged to “pre-order” through the Jackson Labs website. If no interest is registered, then colony managers may not maintain the live colony on the shelf and, therefore, these will only be available after a cryorecovery.

The NSG.Capn3 KO mice join four recently generated Calpain 3-null strains which are available at Jackson Labs. A list of all five Calpain 3-null strains can be found here.
